Access Control Systems | Briarwood Communications
We are a proud Identicard Partner!
Access control systems control access to different sections, rooms, or divisions within your company’s infrastructure. Forming authorized access allows for discretion, safety, and fraud prevention. There are several different types of Access Control with different functions depending on your desired entry method. Briarwood Communications can service all your ACS needs and guarantees your satisfaction with installation and operation.
Keypads
Numeric keypads are a common access control system for companies that desire authorized entry to facilities. These devices require a numerical code be entered before access to the facility is allowed. They can be set to compute multiple codes for differentiated or hierarchal entry or set to a singular code that will dictate all access. Custom or ad hoc codes can be programmed to allow access to visitors, clients, or other affiliates that are not desired to have constant and consistent entry to the facility. We will ensure that all operating procedures for the keypad are understandable and clear so that you can choose your direction at your own accord.
Magnetic Stripe (ABA) Card Readers
Magnetic stripe card readers are another common entry system that are very effective in monitoring and authorizing appropriate entry to your business. Users are issued numerically encoded cards (based on the American Banking Association) associated with an employees data record that will transmit to the device upon contact, insertion, or swiping. These card reading systems enable the customer to create and encode their own PVC cards with PVC printers and are economical but not as secure as proximity or smart cards.
Proximity Cards, FOBs, and Smart Cards
Proximity cards and FOB keys are more secure solutions to ACS systems than mag-stripe cards but are similar as they also have an internal number that is associated with an employees data record. The proximity cards will provide you the capability to gain access by simply waving the proximity card or key fob in front of the reader. Proximity cards are manufactured in batches and serialized at the factory they can be purchased pre-printed or can be printed on with PVC printers. Smart cards are similar to proximity cards in that they too have an internal number, are manufactured in batches and serialized in the factory however smart cards can be programmed with specific information about the card holder (eye color, hair color, driver license number, etc...). Bio-metrics is currently the most secure form of access control and incorporates readers that are capable of reading the users fingers or thumb prints or performing a retinal eye scan. These solutions are very effective for companies that have constant in and out processes that require quick, simple, and effortless entry on a high frequency occurrence. Since there is no contact with the reading device the maintenance is minimal.
Electric Strikes and Magnetic Locks
For any access control system electronic door hardware such as strikes, panic hardware or magnetic locks will allow access and deny access as required. These systems vary depending upon the construction of the building and Briarwood Communications has the experience to determine the correct door hardware for your application.
Telephone or Intercom Entry Systems
If a more personalized approach to entry authorization is required, a telephone entry system might suit your needs better. These systems allow the user to communicate with the person entering the facility. It can be combined with a video system or stand alone to allow simple voice contact. These systems can be connected with recording devices that will allow for all visitors to be on record when entering the company premises and can stand alone or be combined with a larger access control system.
Transmitters and Remotes
A transmitter is another very simple solution to control entry. This system would act very similarly to a garage door opener. They would simply communicate with the ACS system to allow entry based on the authorized individual pre-established ownership of a required device. These devices can be set to the same frequency or different ones to allow access to different areas of your work facility.
Video Surveillance / Security Cameras
Video cameras are an effective and critical addition to monitor your facility. Whether your facility has a centralized monitoring dispatch center or a single live camera feed Briarwood Communications has the expertise to install, service and upgrade your system. Video surveillance can also be integrated with an Access Control System showing who is accessing the door and when. Briarwood Communications has access to all the top brands such as Pelco, Sony, Integral, Dedicated Micros, Arm and many others.
